Privacy policy

This policy describes how Credence Software ("Credence," "we," or "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our public marketing website (currently served at credence-software.com and related pages). It does not govern our separate product application or other services, which may be covered by additional terms and policies.

We encourage you to read this policy carefully. If you have questions, contact us using the information at the end of this page.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information, depending on how you use the site:

  • Information you submit. When you use forms on this website (for example, "Book a demo" or waitlist sign-up), we collect the fields you provide. That typically includes your email address, an optional message or similar free-text field where offered, and optional campaign or source labels used for routing or reporting. We do not require separate first name, last name, or company name fields on these marketing forms; if you include names or employer details in a message, we treat that content as part of your submission.
  • Technical and usage data. When you browse the site, our servers and service providers may process data such as IP address (often received via network headers such as X-Forwarded-For when traffic passes through infrastructure in front of our application), browser type, operating system, referrer, pages and resources requested, timestamps, and similar diagnostic or analytics metadata. We use this information to operate, secure, and improve the site and to understand aggregate usage.
  • Security and abuse-prevention signals. Where we deploy bot or abuse-prevention tools (such as Cloudflare Turnstile), those providers may process technical signals related to the interaction in order to assess whether a submission is likely to be automated.
  • Error and reliability data. When something goes wrong, we may collect technical information about the error (which can include stack traces, request path, and related context) through our monitoring and analytics tooling so we can diagnose and fix issues.

How we collect information

  • Directly from you when you submit forms or otherwise contact us.
  • Automatically through cookies, pixels, scripts, and similar technologies operated by us or by service providers (see below), including when you load pages or interact with embedded widgets.

Analytics, cookies, and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (including local storage and software development kits) for purposes such as remembering preferences, measuring site performance, and understanding how visitors use our pages. Some of these technologies are placed by third-party service providers who act on our behalf.

In particular, we use PostHog for product analytics and related diagnostics. Depending on configuration, PostHog may receive browser-side events (such as page views and interactions) and server-side events tied to your visit (for example, high-level outcomes of form flows or technical errors). PostHog may assign or read identifiers (such as a distinct ID or session ID) to correlate events. We configure our application to avoid sending the contents of marketing form fields (such as your email or message body) to PostHog as analytics event properties; however, technical metadata (such as page URL, request path, HTTP method, and, where transmitted by the network, IP-related headers and user agent) may still be associated with analytics or error records. If you authenticate to portions of the site in the future, similar tooling could associate an account identifier or email with analytics context as permitted by our configuration.

We may also use Sentry or comparable tools for error monitoring when enabled. Those services may receive technical details about your browser session or request when an error occurs.

You can control many cookies through your browser settings. Blocking or deleting cookies may affect site functionality. Additional choices may be available depending on your region and the third party's tools; where required by law, we will provide or honor applicable consent or opt-out mechanisms.

How we use your information

  • To respond to inquiries, operate waitlists or demos you request, and provide customer support.
  • To send service-related messages and, where permitted, marketing about Credence (you may opt out of promotional email as described in those messages).
  • To operate, maintain, secure, debug, and improve our website and infrastructure.
  • To measure usage and effectiveness of content and campaigns in aggregate or pseudonymous form.
  • To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or unlawful activity.
  • To comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights, safety, and property.
  • For other purposes disclosed at collection or with your consent where required.

Sharing and subprocessors

We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. We do not rent your personal contact lists to third parties for their independent marketing.

We share information with service providers and subprocessors who process data on our instructions to help us run the website and our business. Categories of recipients include:

  • Customer relationship and email tools (for example, HubSpot) to store and manage leads and communications you initiate through our forms.
  • Analytics and product instrumentation (for example, PostHog) as described above.
  • Infrastructure, security, and performance (for example, Cloudflare for Turnstile and related edge services, and hosting or content delivery partners).
  • Error monitoring (for example, Sentry) when enabled.

These providers may access, store, or process information in accordance with their own privacy notices and our agreements with them. We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Credence, our users, or others.

Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and system; analytics and log data may be retained for shorter periods than CRM records tied to active sales conversations.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, such as rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing, or to object to or withdraw consent for processing that is based on consent. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise rights or ask questions, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your request before responding.

  • You may opt out of promotional emails using the unsubscribe link or instructions in those messages.
  • If you are a California resident, state privacy laws may provide additional rights (for example, rights to know, delete, or correct certain personal information, and to opt out of certain "sale" or "sharing" as defined by law). We do not sell personal information for money as described above; if our use of analytics cookies or similar technologies is considered "sharing" under applicable law, we will honor recognized opt-out signals or mechanisms where required.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 16, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to investigate and delete such information where required by law.

International data transfers

Credence is based in the United States. Our service providers may process information in the United States and in other countries where they operate. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from the country where you live. Where required by applicable law, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms) for cross-border transfers.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date below. Material changes may be communicated through additional notice where appropriate.
